IWR1443BOOST: How to send the fluid level values from the board to P, more accuracy, more range

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443

Dear All,

I have a IWR1443 EVM and the application which I 'm interested in is the Fluid level Application.

The board has been properly flashed and the data are visualized on the https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/4768107/mmWave_Fluid_Level_Transmitter_1_0_0/

However, I need of some hints for extending the current Demo to my application. In particular, I need to:

  1. Have the fluid level value available for being sent via internet, or memorized in a data logger, or in a Text file in the PC and so on.
Consider that the tanks are more then one, therefore there is also this problem that ONE pc should manage more than one EVB.
  2. Actually the accuracy and resolution seems to be in the order of 1 mm. I know that this limit is mainly imposed by the operative wavelength of the radiated signal, but there is a method to increase the received information and thus improve accuracy.
  3. Finally, the tank is very deep (around 25-30m). How can we extend the operative range of the application fluid level.

Many thanks for you kind help and support.

Looking forward to receiving a reply from you,

Davide

  • Hi Davide,

    1. This kind of application will require particular output peripherals of your choosing on your final board design. As of now it is only possible to run one demo at a time on your PC. Do I understand your question correctly?
    2. This is a fact of the demo. For Liquid measurements you will find 1 mm accuracy for >90% of measurements. It is definitely possible to improve this but it would require you to machine a custom mount and ensure that your tank is completely level and free of vibration and other disturbances.
    3. I don't believe you can extend the range in level transmitter but if you use the high accuracy gui you can set your maximum range there: dev.ti.com/.../
