IWR1642: Special PCB material needed?

Hi,

can you tell me if a special PCB material, like for example Nelko, is needed for the IWR1642 chip or is FR4 sufficient for the 80GHz antenna?

Hello,

The FR4 material is not suitable for a 77-81Ghz antenna. The fabrication documents, hardware design checklist Excel sheet, detail the stackup for the EVM as Rogers 4835 Lo Pro 4mil core, 1/2 copper material for L1 and L2 as the RF signal layer.

sprr255 - zip file contains the layout and design files (see stackup drawing) - IWR1642-BOOST-011-Stackup.pdf

sprr256 - contains the schematic, assembly, and BOM

The layout provided is based on the board materials.
