AFE4490: SPISTE stays high

Part Number: AFE4490

Hello everyone,

i'm using this protocentral board https://www.protocentral.com/sensors/1112-protocentral-afe4490-pulse-oximeter-breakout-board-kit-642078949425.html attached to a raspberry pi.

Sometimes, i cant explain why, the SPISTE pin stays HIGH even if i correctly initialize the SPI peripheral.

I even tried to force to SPISTE LOW by clearing the gpio without any results.

is there a reason for the AFE4490 to keep the SPISTE HIGH? Maybe some diagnostic issue that prevent the pin to be set low?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Aurelio,

The SPISTE signal is an input signal to AFE4490 and the AFE does not control the SPISTE signal level.
Have you checked the status of the RESET, AFE_PDN signals?
Also have you tried driving a logic low signal on the ARD_CS0 externally on the hardware (U1 pin 15) and check if SPI_CS0 is going low?
