TDC1000-TDC7200EVM: Add schmitt trigger

Part Number: TDC1000-TDC7200EVM

Hello,

Can including a schmitt trigger in both TX and RX path will result in better readings?

Regards,

Prudhvi Sagar

  • Hi Prudhvi,

A Schmitt trigger will not improve the performance of the TDC1000. They are generally used for converting slow edges into fast rising edges or cleaning up noisy signals. It would also convert the smooth sine wave input signal on the RX to a square wave affecting the time of flight.

The best way to ensure good readings is by properly mounting the transducers and adjusting the TDC1000 settings to achieve the best possible signal to noise ratio on the input to the RX pins. If you need to increase the excitation voltage from the TX pins, you should use a topology similar to the one on the TDC1000-GASEVM BSTEVM board.

    Regards,
