PGA460: set up

Part Number: PGA460

Team,

Please help verify the appropriate set up:

I’m using the UART interface at 3.3V, and I want to make sure I have all the connections correct per TI’s recommendations:

  • TXD connected to master microcontroller’s RX with internal weak pull-up
  • RXD pulled up to 3.3V with 100kΩ resistor
  • SCLK pulled low with 100kΩ resistor
  • IO, TEST, and DECPL pins left unconnected.  Or do I need to pull TEST low to ensure 3.3V functionality?

Please help confirm or correct the above pin connection descriptions if possible.

Thanks

Viktorija

  • Hi Viktorija,

You have the TXD connection set up correctly. As for the RXD and SCLK connections, the PGA460 has internal 100kΩ pull-up (for RXD) and pull-down (for SCLK) resistors. You shouldn't need to use any external resistors for those pins.

It's fine to leave the IO, TEST, and DECPL pins floating. The TEST pin defaults to 3.3V functionality if left unconnected; you would only need an external resistor if you wished to use 5V functionality. Figure 42 on page 51 of the datasheet shows the pin's internal pull-down resistor.

    Regards,
