AWR1642: Radar Studio v1.9.1.0: reflection Coeff (dB) in "Measure Tx Power Config" section under "ContStream"

Under "ContStream" in Radar Studio, there is section "Measure Tx Power Config". After clicking on "set", we will see a value displayed for Reflection Coeff under "Measure Tx Power Report". Can you please explain how and where this Tx power reflection is measured, so that we know exactly what we are actually measuring. Thanks.

I searched under "ContStream". The closest I saw was about NF and gain. I didn't see anything on "reflection coeff". Can you point me to the exact posting? Thanks.

Hi Brian,

The TX Power Report is generated by power detectors which sample the output of the PA. So the sample point of the sensors is the flip-chip ball to package interface. However, additional post-processing (using characterized package data) is performed on these raw power detector values such that the reported values in radar studio are effectively referenced to the package BGA to PCB interface.

Thank you very much for your reply. On page 674 of "AWr16xx/14xx Technical Reference Manual" (Literature number SWRU520A), there is TX subsystem diagram (Fig 4-4). Hi Brian,

Yes. That is what I am referencing. Output of the PA stages. But again, in when reading the value out of Radar Studio, the value is compensated for the package loss/reflection so the measurement plane is effectively the PCB/Package interface.
