IWR1443BOOST: losing the connection with the COM port after a period of time.

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443

Hi,

I have a iwr1443Boost here and i connected it to a window 10 pc using the USB. The software is the mmWave Demo visualizer.
Every couple of minutes i lose the connection with the iwr1443 and i'm not able to reconnect it again. I have to restart my pc to reconnect the IWR1443.
When i press 'Send config to mmwave device' in demo visualizer it doesn't display any console messages anymore. In the bodem line it says "COM7:115200, COM8:921600   waiting for data"

I installed the Chrome extention from TI and the mmwave_sdk_01_02_00_05-Windows-x86-Install.exe. In my device manager i see two COM ports (com 7 and 8) named serial USB device (COM7 and COM8) and not Class Appliction/user UART or Class Auxiliary Data Port (these are the names that are  being used in the set up guild)

Could you please help me with this problem?

Best regards, Tim G.

  • Hi Tim,

This is a very unusual problem. You are saying that the visualizer does work for you sometimes?

One of the biggest recommendations I can make is to make sure all the other applications running on your PC are closed because the UART has among the worst priority for your computer.

Would you be able to post a screenshot of your device manager?

    Cheers,
    Akash
  • Dear Akash,

    Thank you for your message.
I Tried it again the next day and the connection kept working as it should be.
So I will not require anymore assistance for it.

    Thank you for your time,

    Tim.
