IWR1443: IWR1443 for use in Level probing Radar integrated with LoRa module and their FCC certification

Part Number: IWR1443

Hi,

What part of FCC will be required for mmWave Sensor- Is it 47 CFR 15.256?

Can we go for FCC certification for the complete end module (mmwave sensor+ LoRa (Sub-GHz ISM Band) ) or do we need separate certification for both the devices?

This question raises as Lora comes under FCC 15.247 and mmWave sensor comes under 15.256. Also, on the use case I see the following on Level Probing radars (LPR) as part of FCC, https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/47/15.256

I am more concerned on Point (e)- Marketing to residential consumers is prohibited- What does this mean? Can’t we use this module for monitoring liquids in a residential area?

Can you please shed some light on the FCC part by providing relevant application notes/ data?

Thanks, Ramarao

  • Hello,
If you have a product that radiates in multiple RF ranges, I think you have to test for both. The TI application engineers normally do not suggest answers for regulatory questions. We are not doing the testing, we are providing a device that can be designed into a customer system.

There are different RF testing standards, for CE, FCC, ETSI, and others. Depending on your products conformance, you have many to review.

The consumer question, I think this is another product conformance / regulatory question.

Section 6 of the EVM User Guide lists the compliance testing done for the xWR1443 Boost EVM.
