AWR1642: detecting the target distance, speed and position

Part Number: AWR1642

Is it possible to achieve the goal of accurately detecting the target distance, speed and position by simply running the demo provided by the SDK? Or I need to develop my own demo to achieve this function?

  • Hi Lingzhi,

The current SDK demo is actually quite accurate in terms of distance, speed, and position although you can optimize the demo for your particular application. We actually have quite a bit of example code available on the TI Resource Explorer: dev.ti.com/.../

Let me know if you have more questions.

  • But I run the SDK Demo use the mmWave Demo Visualizer sonfigure chirp and observe test results. I detected the pedestrian's moving position and moving speed in front of the radar in an empty playground, but the result displayed on the plot was particularly inaccurate. There was only one person in front, but occasionally showed many scattered points on the plot, and sometimes one point. No, and the location information is also incorrect. Am I mishandling it? Using the provided chirp database Then using the matlab GUI to monitor the effect will not be better?
  • Hello Lingzhi,

Do you care to discuss your desired application in more detail? The Visualizer provides an out of box experience, and while it is quite accurate within the given constraints, the entire demo can be fine tuned for your particular application.

I'd also like to reiterate that there are many other demos for a variety of applications in the Labs folder of both the Industrial and Automotive Toolboxes: dev.ti.com/.../

  • I just want to measure the azimuth information and speed information of the vehicles in front of the radar, but the results measured using the an out of box experience are inaccurate. I follow the SDK guide to run the mmw demo and then configure the parameters in the mmw demo visualizer, in addition to what I need to do to improve the accuracy of the test results
  • Lingzhi,

Perhaps either the Traffic Monitoring or Short Range Radar Labs might be appropriately geared for your application: dev.ti.com/.../
