IWR1642: Is there any way to reduce the power consumption?

Based on this thread, I was wondering if any of this would apply to the IWR1642?

"There are two current fixes to reduce the power, replacing C22 on the EVM with a .022uF cap, and the IWR1443 ES3 40Mhz QSPI load, the combination of these two reduces the 140ms boot time to 27ms."

Would either of these be applicable to the current Rev-A EVM boards/ES1.0 devices?

Hi Aaron,

These figures do not apply to IWR1642, the addition of the DSP is just going to result in more power consumption than IWR1443. This is a big reason why TIDEP-0091 was performed with IWR1443BOOST.

I'm following your logic on why the decision was made to use the IWR1443 for TIDEP-0091.

Does TI have any plans to release another silicon revision of the IWR1642 with a shorter boot time?

Hi Aaron,

The latest IWR1642 and IWR1642BOOST features a silicon revision (ES2.0) where the BSS is flashed in ROM. This confirms a shorter boot time overall, although the boot time for MSS is likely to be the same.
