IWR1642BOOST: continuous wave mode

Genius 12760 points
Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1642

As a pure transmitter for a continuous wave (w/o chirp) a IWR1642 Booster Pack should be used. Is it possible to set the transmitter in “just carrier wave” mode via the USB interface?

Regards, Bernd

  • Hello,
If you look in the mmwave SDK User Guide for Capture demo, there is a discussion of Continuous mode, programmed over the USB with the data capture demo. You need to use mmwave SDK 1.1 or earlier.

Continuous means one RF frequency, no modulation. Used for Tx testing.
If you link two EVMs with external 40Mhz AC coupled from a test source, one can transmit, the other can receive with an offset frequency.
This allows for single tone testing of the transmit and receive paths.
