TDC1000-TDC7200EVM: how to configure the settings for my application

Part Number: TDC1000-TDC7200EVM

Hello,

I am using the TDC1000-TDC7200 EVM for measuring the water level of a container. Instead of fixing the transducer to the bottom of the container, I have glued the transducer to a box and made to float it in the water. I want to know whether we can measure the water level in this way, if yes then what are the configuration settings I need to change?

This is the configuration setting

This the oscilloscope readings

The actual reading is around 6cms whereas the reading measured by the EVM is around 2.5 cms. How to calibrate this?

below is the setup

  • Hello,

You have no blanking period and have selected only 1 STOP. The behavior you're seeing is probably the result of the ringdown period of the transducer being caught by the RX. No additional stops are recorded because the receive signal chain deactivates after seeing the first stop signal.

Set the number of stops to the maximum for testing purposes. Also, read the section on configuring the TDC1000 blanking time in the FAQ here: e2e.ti.com/.../3611.everything-you-need-to-know-for-ultrasonic-tof-liquid-coupled-collateral-tools-designs-faq

    Regards,
  • Hello,
I tried everyting by changing the blanking time, PGA_gain, NUM_Tx pulses. But nothing gives the required result. So, I have a doubt that whether this method of measuring the water level, by fixing the trasnducer inside a box and make it float on the water, will work or not, if not then what are the other methods that can be employed so that I can omit the method of fixing the trasnducer to the bottom of container. Because, while working with larger tanks of height say 2 meters it would be difficult to glue the trasnducer to the bottom. So what can be done to solve this problem?
