OPT8241-CDK-EVM: fail to open device error

Part Number: OPT8241-CDK-EVM

Hi, There.

I recently purchased OPT8241-CDK-EVM board and tried to operate it yesterday, with new power supply.

but Voxel Viewer(v0.9.10) software can't communicate with EVM board.

first wired thing i have notice is, this EVM board does not have any Serial number or other number on USB address.

and it shows error.

Thus I have doubt on Driver, but that looks fine.

I also absolutely check Board LEDs and all 3 LED is on looks okay.

Thus, now i have no idea what should I do and have some concern I have defective one.

Would you help me to figure out what is wrong on this EVM board?

Thank you.

Best regards,

SK.

  • Hi SK,

It seems that the VID and PID are correctly being read as 0x0451 and 0x9105. However, the serial number is not getting read. Can you check the serial number? You can use USBTreeView for checking the serial number () It seems that the serial number is not programmed correctly.

  • Hi, Suramya.

    Thank you for quick reply.

below is TreeView screen shot of DUT. I can't find specifically mentioned Serial number, but I can see some part has Serial number, "12018151200018"

This is same serial number in package.

Is there a way, I can check it has right serial number or not or should I ask to replace it?

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    SK

  • SK,

It seems that Voxel Viewer is not able to read the serial number properly, but we still need more information. Can you please download VoxelSDK and use it for testing?

    Download v0.6.10 from this link.

You'll need PCL 1.7 and QT5.4. For download, read the documentation here:

After installation, try running SerialNumber.exe and give a screen capture of the command prompt message.

  • Hi, Suramya.

Below is serial number command result. and it gave nothing.... is it normal or i need to try put serial number on this?

In case, i need to put in the serial number, please let me know what is right command to put in, I don't want to mess up?

    "serialnumber.exe -s 12018151200018" is right one?

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    SK

    • Please type "SerialNumber.exe -v 0x0451 -p 0x9105"
This should show the correct serial number of the camera. Please send a screenshot of the response to this command.
    • Run VoxelCLI.exe with the camera connected to the PC. This should load a new point-cloud window. Please share the screenshot after selecting this command as well.

  • Hello, Suramya.

I have a talk with my manager and he is strongly asked me to replace this EVM board and get another one from you guys.

we already spent one week for this EVM board work but it was not fixed yet, so he does not want to spend my time on this EVM board debugging.

Would you let me know how I can return this board?

    Thank you.

    Best regards,
    SK.
