TDC1000: Is it possible to detect "tx shift" signature on rx side?

Part Number: TDC1000
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MAX3232

Hello,

Is it possible to detect right tx burst by "tx shift signature" while detecting rx signal?

I have a very noisy environment and I want to detect "just right" tx bursts.

THanks

  • Hello,

The TX shift will not show up appreciably in the RX signal. If the environment is very noisy, the best option is to make your bandpass filter on the receive line as narrow as possible. If that is not enough and you have already maximized the signal amplitude by choosing the proper number of TX pulses, the next step would be to choose a different transducer that can provide a greater SPL, which may require boosting the output signal of the TDC1000. You can find an example of how this is done in the TDC1000-GASEVM.

    Regards,
  • I’m using tdc1000 for detecting water level upside down (thru the gas to water). I already using max3232 to boost the output. The problem is the noise coming from the bottle (plastic, 5-gal drinking water). It is ringin with the same frequency so bandpass filter is not a solution. It is working good with more than half a bottle of water, but if I have less, it is impossible to see a stable reflection picture. Any ideas?
