IWR1443BOOST: High Accuracy Demo Measurements error

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST

Hi,

I am testing out both the 1443 and the 1642 using the High Accuracy Demo lab. They both seem to have an offset. I take measurements spaced 0.1 inches apart over 2 inches, 20 locations, and average approximate 75-100 samples for each location. The results show the radar thinks that the target moves closer to 0.075 inches  farther each time. When this is all added up there is a significant error comparing the first and last measurement. Has this been observed before and is there something that I should take into account to fix this problem?

Thanks

Garrett

  • Garrett,

The measurement is very sensitive to the setup --  whether a lens is used for zooming the beam, the object size and RCA, the reflection from the items around the object, et al.  The best measurement we got was to put a metal plate on the ceiling and using a sliding device to move the EVM up/down.

Both labs have been tested with 10 steps up/down with 1mm (14xx) or 1.7mm  (16xx) per step, 200 to 1000 measurements per location. We don't observe the error. I attached the plot measured by 16xx here.

In user guide, we only show the fixed distance measurement.

    Regards,

    Michelle
