TDC1000: TDC1000 temperature compensation

Part Number: TDC1000

Dear Sir,

for TDC1000 application, should we consider the temperature compensation? thanks.

  • Hello,

Yes, the temperature of a fluid is correlated with the speed of sound through that fluid. When measuring flow, level, or concentration you will get the best results of a TOF measurement if you can know the speed of sound in the medium precisely, which requires knowing the temperature of that fluid.

This article discusses the things that affect speed of sound in a medium, and provides formulas to calculate speed of sound based on temperature and pressure: en.wikipedia.org/.../Speed_of_sound
