TMP431: Testing method

Part Number: TMP431
Hello,
Our customer used the hairdryer to compare TMP431 and thermocouple in high temperature condition.
However, the read temperature difference between TMP431 from the thermocouople becomes larger when they use the hairdryer to make the sensors over 80 Celsius degrees.
I'd like to know whether or not the hairdryer caused this problem.
Best Regards,
  • Hi Kazuto-san,

It's difficult to make accurate comparison this way. We use Thermal Calibration Baths to perform our testing. The fluid in the bath provides much higher thermal conductivity than air. This ensures that the two sensors are exposed to the same temperature. Atmosphere has very poor thermal conductivity.

    Thanks,
    Ren
  • Hello Ren,

Using hairdryer is not appropriate for the thermal calibration as you said.
Furthermore, the customer used a heat resistant masking tape to fixing the thermocouple, it seems not to be strong connection.
I recommend my customer to use another testing method like a thermostatic chamber.

    Best Regards,
    Kazuto Tatsumi
