CCS/TDC7200: Clock Periods

Part Number: TDC7200

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi there,
I have a question regarding the setting of the clock periods. what exactly causes the increase or decrease of the clock periods? And above all, which setting of the clock periods should be set in which configuration? Basically, I realize that it is about increasing the measurement time based on the reference clock. but the measuring time is automatically increased even with 5 stops.
Does the clock period setting change the accuracy ???

thanks for any reply

  • Hi Ben,

Do you mean the CALIBRATION2_PERIODS setting? This determines how many clock periods are counted during the CALIBRATION2 measurement sequence. A higher number takes longer, but will provide more accuracy when calculating the normLSB. See section: 8.4.2.2.1 Calculating Time-of-Flight (TOF) (Measurement Mode 2)

The CALIBRATION2_PERIODS does make the entire measurement sequence longer or shorter, but that is not the purpose of it.

    Regards,
