TDC7200: Problems getting EVM connected

Part Number: TDC7200

Hello,

We are having issues getting the EVM running on our PC. Everything is connected as it should be but the EVM is not being recognized by the PC. We are wondering if this is a Windows 10 issue. Screen shots attached below.

Do you have any suggestions?

  • Hi Ramon,

The first thing to check is if there are additional com ports available. COM3 is just the default, but sometimes the board may show up under a different port. You can click the dropdown arrow next to the comport number and it will show a list of available comports. If no other comports show up, even selecting COM3 again may work.

    Regards,
  • Hi Scott,

Unfortunately that did not solve the issue. When plugged in, it shows the available ports in device manager, but selecting either of them it does not work. We did as follows:

    1. Launched GUI and selected correct EVM (TDC7200)
    2. Selected both COM ports available with no success and got an error
    3. Tried doing a firmware update following procedure on power cycle and holding down button, but this was not successful
    4. Launched CCS Cloud and ran a simple peripheral project to push it to the MSP430 to verify the MSP430 was working. This worked and it prompted the MSP430 to update it's firmware to whatever version was downloaded to it
    5. Verified COM ports showed the MSP430 and it ran the new software so we ruled out MSP430 being the issue.
    6. Connected again to GUI and repeated steps 1-3 with no luck.

Not sure if this is a driver issue specifically to the TDC7200/GUI. Can we run this through CCS to update firmware through that instead? That was the next step we were going to take. If that is possible can you provide instructions on how to do that.
