    TI has two main types of capacitive sensors: resonant-based and charge-based. The two devices you mentioned are charge-based capacitive sensors, which are the most common. The FDC1004 is most similar to these devices. TI also offers capacitive sensors integrated into microcontrollers, called CapTIvate MCUs

    Resonant-based sensing is unique to TI and offers significant noise immunity compared to charge-based capacitive sensing. It can be used for both proximity detection and capacitive touch applications. You can learn more about resonant-based capacitive sensing here.
