AWR1642BOOST: pplcount

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, IWR1642

Hello, I have a few questions about AWR1642.
1. I want to start an example of counting people, it is written for IWR1642, whether it will work for me.
2.When you run the application pplcount_gui.exe, I write an error-dfeDataOutputMode 1
Warning: Unexpected Warning: A timeout occurred before the Terminator was reached.
Warning: Unexpected Warning: A timeout occurred before the Terminator was reached.
Warning: Unsuccessful read: The specified amount of data was not returned within the Timeout period..

The remaining configuration commands are also not executed, which may be the reason.

  • Hi,

You should be able to run this example on AWR1642 as well.

The team working on People Counting Application will be able to get back to you after Memorial Day holiday

    thank you
    Cesar
  • Hi Konstantis,

    1) You can run this on the AWR1642 - follow the same steps you would for the IWR1642.

    2) This error is caused because the Serial port is timing out, probably due to not being connected.  If you have a AWR1642 ES2.0, make sure you are using Industrail Toolbox 2.3.1, otherwise use 2.3.0. ES2.0 will be labeled, ES1.0 is not labeled. Also make sure you are using the GUI to connect to the device.

    Regards,

    Justin

  • Hi Justin,

I'm sure that I'm doing everything right. I uploaded the debug card in debug and the commands on the COM port began to be accepted and executed. But the GUI application began to crash after pressing the start button at the console writes the following: " Unsuccessful read: The sptcified amount of data was not returned within the Timeout period"  Index exceeds matrix dimension.Error in main_pplcount_viz(line 513).I'm using indastrial_toolbox 2_3_1.

when I send the command to configure the radar manually, the error about which I wrote above does not arise.

  • Hi Konstantis,

I think you may be using the wrong Industrial Toolbox. If your IWR1642 does not say ES2.0 on it, you need to use Industrial ToolBox version 2.3.0.

    Regards,
    Justin
  • Hello,

I am running into the same exact problem as described by Konstantis. My board is Rev. A, and it doesn't have the ES2.0 sticker on it. I use the Toolbox version 2.3.0 as suggested, but got the same problem. I have also tried different demo , such as Lab 5 - high accuracy -16xx, and it also stuck in "waiting for data" status. Any suggestion? Is it possible that the board is defective (just received it 3 days ago), but there is no indication that the board's malfunctioned.

    Thanks,
    Yohannes
  • Hi Yohannes,

Make sure that when running the demo, only SOP2 is connected. Assure that the UART COM port and DATA COM port are properly selected. You should try running the out of box demo. There is a precompiled binary available in the SDK. Find it at <SDK_INSTALL_PATH>\packages\ti\demo\xwr16xx\mmw\

    Regards,
    Justin
