DDC112: Average value

Part Number: DDC112
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DDC232

Hello.

If the integral time is set to 10ms and the following current signal is measured, can it be measured as the average value?

Repetition cycle: 10ms
Duty ratio: 0.1%
Signal level: The average value is about 50% of the measurement range

  • That's an interesting question... It seems that you are trying to integrate 10us pulses (I guess that is what you mean for duty cycle) of roughly 50% of the full scale range, correct? Certainly the device was not intended originally to operate under that condition, but more with a slow changing input current. Nevertheless, we do have customers using our DDC232 in similar conditions. I do not know about the DDC112. It may work, but the only way to know is to test it. I would do some linearity tests but using pulses as input. If that doesn't work you may want to add at the input a network (a parallel cap may do) to effectively average the current. I have not tried it personally and may have other implications, like adding noise, but may work.
