AWR1243: AWR1243 ADC data processing in ISS(Image subsystem) in TDApx

Hello,

For AWR1243 interfaced with TDA2px, the ADC raw data gets captured from ISS(Imaging subsystem) in TDA2px. But I am not sure if this data gets processed from ISP processing block and LDC/VTNF block, since this blocks are used for camera data processing. Does RADAR AWR1243 ADC raw data also gets processed from these blocks or this raw data is directly fed to the DSP for further processing ?

Is there any document available which explains the data processing of RADAR usecase in TDA2px with single or cascaded AWR1243?

I also have similar question. I am planning to send multiple 1243 ADC data to TDA2x via VIP ports. Do they get processed or raw ADC data can be passed on to the DSP cores?

Hi Neil

For the TDA2px, the CAL interface is used to capture the raw ADC data. The ISS in the TDA2px device works only from M2M mode. (You would notice in the block diagram given in www.ti.com/.../tda2p-acd.pdf that there is a CSI2 x2 CAL interface)

This would not perform any of the camera processing steps that would happen in ISS.

Even in the case of TDA3xx where the CAL block of the ISS is getting used the CAL can directly write to DDR without any of the Vision processing.

Hi Ganesan,

The VIP Slice supports multiple paths out of which the path from the Port interface to the VPDMA directly without any of the scalar and CSC conversion is used for the Raw Radar data capture. This would make sure the radar data does not go through the vision processing.

That is, reading from the VIP port via VPDMA and storing the same on internal RAM.

Is there any Application note where I can find the typical wiring between 1243 and TDA2x or TDA3x?

Hi Ganesan,

You can refer to PROCESSOR_SDK_RADAR_03_03_00_00\ti_components\drivers\pdk_01_09_00_12\packages\ti\drv\vps\examples\vip\captureVip\src for an example of how to capture using VIP.

Processor SDK Radar 3.4 shall have an example usecase of radar processing from AWR1243 using TDA.

For typical connection you can refer to Figure 2.7 AWR12 + TDA3xx Connection in the document PROCESSOR_SDK_RADAR_03_03_00_00\vision_sdk\docs\Radar\ProcessorSDKRadar_UserGuide.pdf
