AWR1243: Cascade solution questions

Part Number: AWR1243

Hi expert,

Please help to check questions on AWR1243 below. Thank you.

1. Does JTAG on AWR1243 available? On datasheet it's not, but we need JTAG to do boundary scan.

2. In cascade solution, do we need to keep same 20G LO routing length or just keep the signal phase same as each other(different routing length)?

3. On transmitter, ctm want to know if the noise level will increase when TX power increase from 10dbm to 12dbm?

Regards,

Allen

  • Hi Allen,

Please see answers to your questions below.

    1. Yes. JTAG is available on the AWR1243 device. Please see the datasheet, Table 4-1, on page 11.

    2. In the cascade solution LO network the idea is to keep LO length between devices to a minimum to achieve the required power levels. Simultaneously delay match should be made as low as fabrication tolerances allow. Better delay match will result in lower beam-forming errors. Phase match is not required.

    3. It is not recommended to exceed 10dBm for these pins. LO input power above level has not been tested yet by TI.

Please let me know if this answers all of your questions on these topics.

    Thank you,

    Randy

  • Hi Randy,

Thank you. For the third question, there is some misunderstanding. Ctm want to know the noise level difference when TX antenna power change from 10dbm to 12dbm .

    Regards,

    Allen

  • Hi Allen,

Yes, my mistake. I thought you were discussing PA TX noise vs. LO power.

TX output noise will stay within datasheet specifications for the entire range of TX back-off power settings. So TX power set at 12dBm or 10dBm setting will show same range of noise.

Please let me know if that answers your remaining question.

    Thanks,

    Randy
