DCA1000EVM: Power supply trought IWR1642BOOST

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1642BOOST

Hi mmWave team,

I would like to use IWR1642BOOST to power DCA1000EVM (to have only one power adapter). There is R34 resistor mentioned in the DCA1000EVM User Guide. Unfortunately, I have no idea what is meant by this. There is no such position on the board.

The guide seem quite incomplete in more ways for me.

Thanks, Lukas

  • Hi,

The R34 is not on DCA1000EVM, but on IWR1642BOOST. The IWR1642BOOST design documents contain the assembly file to show the location. I've taken a snapshot of it and attached here.

Any suggestions on the user guide are welcome. Thanks!

    Regards,

    Michelle

  • Thank you, I was looking everyhere. So at least it could be nice to have it in the IWR1642BOOST datasheet or DCA1000EVM guide. And of course printed on the board ;)

Why it is not soldered by default? Can I use it with R34 soldered even without DCA1000EVM?
  • Hi,

R34 is only needed when external board needs 5V power drawn from IWR1642BOOST. With R34 installed, BOOST EVM still works as normal, however by default, BOOST evm works in standalone mode so R34 is not installed.
