IWR1443: Send Config to mmWave Device Not Working

Part Number: IWR1443
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, MMWAVE-SDK, IWR1642,

The booklet that came with the module told me to go to the Quick Start Guide at ti.com/StartIWR1443, where I was trying to follow the video. The video tells me to go to https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/mmwave/mmWave_Demo_Visualizer/. The problem is that when I get to the step at 3:32, where I am supposed to press the button "Send Config to mmWave Device", nothing happens. The only thing that changes when I see this is that on the bottom left it changes from "waiting for data" to "Hardware connected".

So I started following this guide: file:///C:/Users/user/Downloads/Run_mmWaveSDK_demo%20(1).pdf

I downloaded the most recent SDK (2.00.00.04) and UniFlash. While trying to follow these instructions, however, I ran into other problems. On page 5 of this guide, it tells me to select the images for Meta Image 1/RadarSS and Meta Image 2/MSS. The SDK folder I have does not have the packages\ti\demo\xwr14xx directory and only has the packages\ti\demo\xwr16xx directory. So I tried to load the images with xwr12xx_xwr14xx_radarss and xwr16xx_mmw_demo, but then it gives me [ERROR] Cortex_R4_0: !!! Aborting flashing of specified files!!!

So I tried to load the images with xwr16xx_radarss_rprc (which is in the same folder as xwr12xx_xwr14xx_radarss) and xwr16xx_mmw_demo, and it still doesn't work.

I just want to be able to follow the demo shown in the video. Can anyone help?

Thank you.

  • Hi Punith,

You'll need the mmWave-SDK 1.2 for this. The mmWave-SDK is only for IWR1642 ES2.0. This should resolve your problem.

  • Thank you.

I downloaded the 1.2 version, like you said. I went back on the Wave Demo Visualizer and repeated all the steps (making sure to use xWR14xx as the platform and SDK 1.2 in the options). This time the console messages started to come up. The problem was that now the plots don't.

When I tried to do it again, I couldn't do anything this time. Now at the bottom left corner, it says, "TICloudAgent.Init ErrorConnecting to TI Cloud Agent...".

    What should I do?

    Thank you.

  • Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I put jumpers on SOP0 and SOP0 to flash the images on the EVM using Uniflash. When I take off the SOP2 jumper to put the EVM on demo mode, three lights start to light up. One of them is DS1. Looking at the manual, it says that if DS1 lights up red, it means that there is a hardware error somewhere on the device. Is this the reason why none of the plots are showing up? What can I do to fix this?

  • I got the Wave Demo Visualizer demo to work last Friday. All I did was disable the Firewall. When I tried it again today, it stopped working. The console messages come up, but the plots do not show up. The bottom left corner says that the hardware is connected. The last line is mmwDemo:/>sensorStart. When it worked on Friday, the console messages had ended with "Done". I believe that I did nothing differently today than I did on Friday. I loaded the respective images using UniFlash, took off the second jumper, rebooted the EVM, opened the Visualizer, and chose the correct platform and SDK version.
Why are there no plots showing up on the screen, and why is the configuration not being sent correctly to the EVM?
  • Hi Punith,

Are you still having this issue? Issues like this can usually be resolved by restarting your browser. Can you confirm you are using Chrome?

I'd also recommend you have selected versions for mmWave-SDK 1.2 and IWR1443.

    Cheers,
