AWR1642: About the radar's range resolution.

Dear TI Support,

I am using AWR1642BOOST+mmwave-devpack+TSW1400EVM, According to the default configuration of RadarStuidio, the measure distance is 25m.

and 256 samples are obtained for each chirp period, so the range resolution is 25/256=0.09765.

But according to the formula: range resolution = c/(2*B).

c->speed of light.

B->sweep bandwidth of FMCW chirp, that is (ADC sampling time * Frequency Slop)=25.6us * 29.982MHz/us.

So get the range resolution is 0.1953m.

This result contradicts the previous one.

Hello Xian,

when you use the default configuration of RadarStudio, you also have "complex2x" selected. This means, that you also have the image band in your data.

Your range will go from -d_max to +d_max , so from -25m to +25m.

Therefore you need to devide 50m with your number of samples: 50 / 256 = 0.1953.
