IWR1642BOOST: capture data to imaging

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST

Hi,

Recently I use HSDC Pro & Radar stdio.exe to obtain echo data and then perform imaging according to the algorithm, but i can not get a right image.

Whether is it right to do in this way or is there any better way to imaging?

Best regards,

Anna Xu

  • Hi Anna,

When you capture with Radar Studio, you have the option to post process on the data with Radar Studio.  This is a good way to ensure the data you have captured is good.  To parse the .bin output for your own data chain, see this document.

    Regards,

    Justin

  • Hi Justin,
I'm very thank you for your useful document!
I got radar data from the radar stdio with the parameter below:
but the image I got was so terrible, and I want to know Whether the parameter setting will affect the quality of the data?

    Best regards,
    Anna

  • Hi Justin,
I'm very thank you for your useful document!
I got radar data from the radar stdio with the parameter below(i used only Tx0 and RX0):
    start frequency : 77GHz
    frequency slope 2.993MHz/us
    Idle Time : 100us
    Tx start time :0
    ADC start time : 6us
    ADC samples : 4096
    sample rate : 10000ksps
    ramp end time : 1000us
    RX Gain : 30 dB
No. of chirp Loops : 1
    No. of Frames : 1
    Frame Periodicity : 10ms
but the image I got was so terrible, and I want to know Whether the parameter setting will affect the quality of the data?
    Best regards,
    Anna
  • Hi Anna,

With one Tx and one Rx, only range and velocity of the object can be determined.  You will have to use multiple Rx to determine angle. Using all Tx and all Rx will give the best angular resolution.
