IWR1443BOOST: Vital signs - Question on processing and reading of data

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443

Dear support team,

I have a few questions, it will be great if you could kindly clarify them for me.

1. From my understanding the raw data from IWR1443 is processed in MATLAB, is that correct? If so how does the MATLAB read the high speed data without an external device such as TW1400?

2. I read that the heart rate range is between 0.8 Hz - 2 Hz which is approximately between 50 - 120 beats per minute. Is it possible to extend the range to 0.7 Hz - 2.5 Hz by manipulating the code or is there a hardware limitation for HR range?

3. The range bin with the demo is set at 1m and I would like to detect heart rate at 6m. I was wondering if the signals will be strong enough or will have enough information to extract heart rate? What is the maximum distance in which the IWR1443 can detect the HR?

Your help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Kind regards,

Khalid

  • Hi,

    1. it is not the raw data that is processed in matlab. It is only the processed date that is sent to the Matlab GUI

    2. Yes, it is possible to do that by modifying the filters

    3. 1m is the maximum distance. Beyond that the signal is too weak

    thank you
