HDC2080: About difference of HDC2010 and HDC2080

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HDC2010

Hello E2E,

Please let me know about Temperature-Humidity sensor.
I know that HDC2010 has Mux between to sensors and ADC. HDC2080 has not Mux, instead it has two ADCs.

I have question.
What is predominance for HDC2080?
Does HDC2010 have what problem about Mux?

Regards,
ACGUY

  • Howdy ACGUY,

Both devices should share a multiplexed scheme to the ADC for sampling and digital conversion.  They both include the same polymer technology, and the only difference is the device package, the HDC2080 is a WSON, while the HDC2010 is a WCSP.  Additionally, the HDC2080 device has the sensor on the top of the package, while the HDC2010 has the sensing element on the bottom.

Please let me know if this answers your questions.

  • Hello Matt,

    Do you remember following thread?
    e2e.ti.com/.../693171
Customer tried devices swap on two EVMs. Issues are attache on device.
Therefor I guess that cause for this issue is not software bug.
Our HDC2010-EVM output data is to be minimum at instantry.
    I guess,
    - When channel switch, input voltage for ADC should to discharge.
    - ADC has settling time.
    - If ADC sampled the data immediately after the discharge, output data is to be minimum.

-> HDC2010 has issue on internal Mux, deleted the Mux at HDC2080.

You said " This issue will be logged in our system and the software will be updated in future revisions. ".
Did you get any update about software?

Please let me know the new information about software debug.

    Best Regards,
    ACGUY
  • ACGUY,

Even during a manual conversion the multiplexer is accessing both the temperature and humidity sensors, with the individual conversion times specified in the datasheet. As you've noted in the linked post, the device s work during manual mode, but does seem to have some issue during auto-mode. As suggested, this is likely a software issue that needs to be corrected in future revisions, currently our resources are strained, but we expect to have it possibly addressed within the next few months. Increasing the period of the output data rate will reduce the power and make more accurate reads, therefore it is recommended that you increase the period or perform manual conversions.

Please let me know if this information helps.

    Best Regards,
    Matt
