IWR1443BOOST: nRST Led Doesn't turn on when powered. No COM Ports detected

Hi gents,

when I have everything connected, the PC fails to detect the COM Port from the EVM board. also the yellow led which is the nRST led does not turn on. It used to work fine. it just happened to me today. Anyone had the same issue before?

    Hi Zhengguo,

    Both the Red 5V LED and Yellow nRST LED should turn on when your EVM is powered. If this isn't happening then you may have a faulty power supply or even board. I'd recommend trying a different power supply or the same supply with a different board in order to determine.

    Hi Akash,

    thank you for the response. I just tried with a different board using the same power supply. it worked fine with the board. all 3 LEDs (2 red and 1 yellow) are turned on. 

    but the one had the Yellow LED off issue still has the same problem. Since the Yellow LED is the nRST LED, does it mean this board is in constant reset mode and thus the PC isn't able to detect the COM port when this board is connected? 

    Also, what could be the possible cause? and is there a way to fix it?

    Hi Zhengguo,

    It is likely that there is something wrong with your board that is resulting in malfunction.

    It is difficult to diagnose the problem with the information you have provided. Have you made any modifications? How long have you been using it and for what have you been using it for?

    Until there is more information to diagnose a cause then I'd recommend using a different board.

    Hi Akash, thank you for getting back to my question. I'm not sure how long I've been using this board, but my best guess was about 4 months or between 4 to 6 months? This board is mainly used for the vital sign lab project. Nothing major have been changed in terms of the c code during the development. we are still using the vital sign firmware provided by TI without any modification. The only thing we've been playing with is the configuration file. i don't know if the problem I have is software/hardware issue. thank you so much.

    Hi Zhengguo,

    It seems likely that your board is damaged in some capacity. Perhaps a picture of your plugged in board might be useful although at this time it is very difficult to diagnose. I'd recommend using a different IWR1443BOOST.
