AWR1642: Flashing and Debugging Questions

Part Number: AWR1642

Hi AWR Team,

I'm curious about flashing the initial image onto a production project on the assembly line.

My understanding is that we need to use the primary boot loader (SOP[2:0] mode 101) to accomplish this. However, I've heard from a customer that they can do this using debugger mode (SOP[2:0] mode 011). If this is possible they only need one shorting point on SOP1 to distinguish between functional (001) and debug (011) rather than two on SOP2 and SOP1.

So the question is: does the debugger write application binaries to the QSPI Flash or does it simply write to the MSS_TCMA_RAM (and eclipse it) to run the debugger?

My second question is about using an XDS560v2 STM debugger connected to the AWR device. If I connect the debugger directly to the HD_CONN(J1) will it act in the same way as the on-board XDS110 debugger?

Thanks,
Barend
