AWR1243BOOST: NERR light on troubleshooting

Part Number: AWR1243BOOST

What are the possible causes for a NERR Led to turn on? With the NERR Led on, I'm assuming that firmware flashing is not possible?

  • Hello,
Could you let us know what is the SOP mode you are booting the device in? This is decided by the jumpers you have placed on the SOP0/1 and 2 pins. A placed jumper sets the state of that line to '1' while removing it sets it to '0'.

    regards,
    Vivek
  • Hi Vivek,

I have noticed that if I power cycle the AWR1243BOOST with no jumpers on the SOP pins, the NERR light will turn off and remain off during the next startup.

If the NERR light indicates a hardware failure, should this mean that the device is unreliable?

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hello Paul,
Thanks for sharing the jumper conditions when the NERR light is OFF. Could you also provide the jumper conditions when the NERR light is ON? Is the NERR light ON during the flashing mode , ie SOP is set to [1 0 1] ?

    Regards,
    Vivek
  • Hello Paul,
If a right firmware is not loaded then the nERR could be asserted. This does not necessarily indicate a hardware issue. It just may be the wrong firmware loaded or no firmware loaded at all. You could load the firmware included in the mmwave DFP package either from the mmwave studio tool (used for RF evalaution) or an external host processor over SPI interface.

    Regards,
    Vivek
