IWR1443BOOST: Difficulty connecting EVK to visualizer

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, IWR1443

Hello,

I'm having difficulty getting the EVK to connect to the visualizer. The issue seems to be in the COM ports, though they show up just fine in device manager. It basically just always says waiting for data, usually from the data port. In serial port configuration, if I try to set the ports, it will often not change one of them when I click configure. Sometimes I can get it to work after repeatedly closing Chrome and restarting it. If I use the high accuracy visualizer, it will connect and run something, but there is no distance data displayed, and upon trying to switch to the standard or logging visualizer, the console data displays gibberish.

It seems like the issue is with my computer. I've gotten the AWR1642 EVK to run, and the IWR1443 used to work just fine. Any ideas what could be going on?

Thanks!

  • Hi Karl,

    Please follow these steps:

    1. Read sections 1, 2, and 3 of the SDK User's guide to make sure your device is set up properly.
    2. Please send a picture of the configuration tab of the Visualizer when configuring the device.
    3. Please provide the SDK version you are using.

    Regards,

    Justin

  • Hi Justin, thanks for the response.

    1. As best I can tell, device is set up properly according to the SDK user guide. It DID work fine for several weeks back in May.

    2. This is the config screen I get, it never moves past waiting for data, though com ports 7 and 15 show up as XDS110 in device manager. As I said, if I change them in the options tab, often it will not change one of the com ports.. Usually the data com port gets stuck on COM3. If I change it and click configure, it will close the window, then upon clicking options again, the port is still on COM3 instead of COM15 as I previously selected.

    3. The EVK is using 1.0, we've tried reflashing 1.2, but have not been successful. It gives COM port errors. Could this be an issue with the visualizer version not playing nice with the older SDK on the device?

  • Ok, I figured it out. I'm going to preface this by saying that I am a mechanical engineer, not a computer or electrical engineer.

... I had the COM ports flipped. It wanted COM7 as data. It works fine now. Thanks for humoring me.
  • Hi Karl,

I just saw that you pressed the issue resolved button. Did you discover the cause of your issues?

    Thanks,
