AWR1642BOOST: mmwaveDemovisualizer ti_cloudagent does not work in user mode in Windows

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

I have tried to get the out of the box demo working in user mode. I have installed the plugin. I downloaded the ti_cloud agent_2 and installed it in various directories c:\users\<user name>, c:\ti or c:\Users\administrator

It always goes back to TI Clod Agent Installation message as in the the attached screen shot. It does work when I am logged in as Administrator but I would prefer to work as a normal user. A log file is not created.

It does work when I am logged in as administrator.

  • Adrian,

I cannot see the screenshot that you have uploaded. Please try to upload it again. Please make sure you are using Google Chrome when trying to run the online visualizer for the out-of-box demo and run in administrator mode.

    Regards,
    Kyle
  • Kyle,

Just to emphasize that It all works when I am logged in as administrator. Here is the screen dump. I keep doing it and it comes back to the same message. I have enabled the log file in c:\temp but a log file is not created.

  • I do run google chrome. Strangely I can see the screen dump in my original message and in the new message I have sent you.

  • Adrian,

So as long as your are running Google Chrome in administrator mode, you do not see any issues. This appears to be the working solution. I will consider this thread to be closed now.

    Regards,
    Kyle
  • Please don't close the thread. For security policy reasons I can not run in administrator mode on the system. We need to get to the bottom of this please.
  • Adrian,

Then I would suggest that you download the offline version of the visualizer and run it locally on your computer.

I have included the direct download links for our mmWave visualizer below.

First you need to install the GUI Composer runtime which can be found here:
    software-dl.ti.com/.../gcruntime-5.0.0-windows-installer.exe

Then you can download the demo visualizer application here:
    dev.ti.com/.../mmWave_Demo_Visualizer

You will need to install both applications for the visualizer to work and in the order listed above, first the runtime and then the application.

I would also suggest viewing this page in Internet Explorer or Firefox.

Please respond if you have any questions.

    Regards,
    Kyle
  • Kylie,

    1. I have downloaded and installed the composer runtime. One question here is why it the recommended install path in the user's home directory rather than some common directory for all users? Same with the ti agent.

    2. When I tried to download and install the demo visualizer app I get an error message that the page can not be found. Can it only be visible from inside TI and not available to the outside world? I will insert a screen dump in message. Where can I find the code for the PC client application?

Also tried to browse myself and could not find a download for a stand alone client app.

    Adrian

  • Adrian,

The download links have been updated. Here are the new links:

The GUI Composer runtime which can be found here:
    software-dl.ti.com/.../gcruntime-6.1.0-windows-installer.exe

    The demo visualizer application here:
    dev.ti.com/.../2.0.0

The installation directory for both can be specified at your own discretion. Please make sure you use Internet Explorer or Firefox when trying to open these links. The downloads will not work in Google Chrome. I can see that you attempted to download the file using Chrome.

    Regards,
    Kyle

  • Kyle,

The runtime fails to install. Attached is the installation log file and the error messages are at the end.

The ticloudagent.bat file does not produce the output in the temp directory. If I modify it manually to enable logging (remove the "rems") it gets over written when I run the install script.

I have made it read only and kept the logging enabled but still did not create the log files as if it was not run.

I did run it manually and I got the log file the content is pasted:
