DCA1000EVM: AWR1642 evaluation kit and DCA1000EVM

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642,

Hi,

I have these questions and your a bit detailed explanation would be greatly appreciated.

I read data sheet but these were not really clear to me.

Q1] What would be actual differences from testing AWR1642 evaluation kit only without DCA1000EVM and without DCA1000EVM?, meaning what would be the limit when just use evaluation kit with USP-PC interface? What would be your recommendation?

Q2] can IF (beat) signal be observed via DCA1000EVM?

Q3] The spec sheet says the LVDS is for high speed ADC output. Is it high speed raw digital data or analog?

Q4] What do you mean by 2 panes for LVDS? for separate I and Q data?

Q5] Other than those mmWave GUI tools provided by TI, is there a way that we can get some source codes, for example, codes for FFT or signal processing?

  • Dear HongJo,

Our expert would reply to this thread soon. Thank you for your patience

  • Hello HongJo,
    Please find my reply below:

<TI>The AWR1642 EVM kit can be used for all functional use case of the radar device, developing your DSP code etc. The DCA1000 is needed ONLY if need the raw ADC data for some RF testing etc.

Q2] can IF (beat) signal be observed via DCA1000EVM?
<TI> Yes, the DCA1000 allows getting the IF signal as sampled by the internal ADC.

Q3] The spec sheet says the LVDS is for high speed ADC output. Is it high speed raw digital data or analog?
<TI> This is digital data from the ADC

Q4] What do you mean by 2 panes for LVDS? for separate I and Q data?
<TI> These are just two parallel lanes to get higher data rate.

Q5] Other than those mmWave GUI tools provided by TI, is there a way that we can get some source codes, for example, codes for FFT or signal processing?
<TI> We do not have the source code available as of now.
