MMWAVE-DEVPACK: mmWave device Power on Failed

Part Number: MMWAVE-DEVPACK

My ultimate goal is to read Raw ADC Data using AWR1642Boost, mmwave-devpack and TSW1400EVM. But when I connect the three boards and try to load the firmware to TSW1400EVM, I get an error that "JTAG_Chain_Broken_Error"."

I was backtracing the problem. I have now connected only AWR1642Boost and mmwave-devpack.

I flashed the Boost board, removed the SOP2 jumper (now functional mode) and now when I try to run "mmwavelink_monitoring application" or any other application from "‘mmwave_dfp_<ver>\ti\example\’ path",I get the  error in executable window. However, as mentioned in the datasheet, I should get "Firmware update successful" at the end.

Can anyone please guide what might be the problem?

My Steps:

1) Connected the two boards.

2) Formatted and flashed the boost board in flash mode.

3) In functional mode, verified the Boost board output in Demo visualizer.

4) Connected the USB cable of mmwave-devpack to my laptop

5) Verified that all the ports have com number from device driver.

6) Tried to follow the mmwave-dfp user guide to run the example.

7) Getting error.

  • Anum,

When you are using both the EVM and Devpack, are you making sure that you use two USB cable, one for each device, and connecting both to your computer?

You should see a total of 6 COM ports in Device Manager when the EVM and Devpack are connected to your computer.

Are you making sure you still have a jumper across SOP0 for this entire process?

Have you tried using the Radar Studio software tool that is included with the DFP? This can load the firmware onto the device and you can start evaluating the device.

    Regards,
    Kyle
  • There Kyle,

I am doing the same. I was currently using the Radar tool software user guide. I hope that works.
  • Dear Kyle,

I an following the Radar studio user guide steps. Everythig is fine till now. I am using the 2Tx and 4Rx setup. However, in the DataConfig LVDS Lane Configuration, i have he option to choose only 2 Lanes instead of 4 (for 4 receivers, I need to select 4 lanes). Lane 3 and lane 4 are blurred and cant be selected. In the StaticConfig, I have selected 2 Tx and 4Rx.

Can you kindly guide why this might occur?

  • Using HSDC Pro, I am finally able to load firmware to TSW1400EVM, but in the Radar Studio, when I click setup TSW1400EVM, I am getting the following error. I have done everything as in the user guide and did not get any error before this. The only problem was with the LVDS lanes I mentioned earlier.

  • Kyle,

Thanks for the help. There was a problem with the installation of Matlab runtime. The error is resolved now.
