IWR1642BOOST: Uniflash Freezing While Flashing IWR1642

Hi IWR Team,

My customer is attempting to flash the IWR1642 EVM with his own custom binary using Uniflash, but during loading Uniflash will freeze(see below) and he has to force restart it.

He says he could successfully flash the TI supplied binary image (mmwave demo binary image), but the only difference is the custom image binary file(299 KB) is larger than the demo binary image(289 KB).

Do you have any thoughts as to what could be causing this? He's on the most up-to-date version of Uniflash.

Hi Barend,

It's very possible that your customer has either an incorrect COM Port selected or does not have the SOP2 Jumper populated.

Hi Akash,

I have double checked with him and the correct COM Port is selected and the SOP Jumpers are correctly populated. He mentioned that he is flashing his custom binary in deployment mode, is there any way there could have been an issue during compilation that would lead to a failed flash? From the datasheet I see there is 768 KB of L3 memory(not to mention the rest of the on-board memory), so I doubt that a file size of 299 KB is responsible.

Hi Barend,

If you can confirm the COM Port and SOP Jumpers are correct then this shouldn't be a Uniflash problem.

Can you confirm his board can flash prebuilt binaries from the mmWave-SDK or mmWave Industrial Toolbox? If it can't then it's likely a hardware problem.

What kind of changes has been made at the code level? Is customer working from a specific Lab in the Industrial Toolbox? We'll need more information in order to assist you.

Hi Akash,

Heard back from my customer - he says he can flash the prebuilt binaries no problem using Uniflash, it is just his code that isn't working. His changes mostly consisted of implementing the 1D and 2D FFT windows.

Does this offer any meaningful insight?

Hi, I had got same issue. Press the reset button before flashing. This solved my problem. Sometimes, Uniflash need to restart.
