Using

RF version 2.0.0.20

MSS version 1.10.0.23

mmwavelink version 1.0.0.0

MSS ESM fault with payload esmGrp1Err = 0x0000_0000 and esmGrp2Err = 0x8000_0000 will seldom occur. Based on the ICD (rev 0.95), bit 31 is ESM_G2_CCC_ERR, I could not find any document that describe what this mean. Thoughts?

Dominic,

Bit 31 of the ESM Group 2 Errors is a reserved value. You can see this on page 228 of the IDC, revision 0.95. Because this is a reserved value, I cannot provide any additional information at this time.

Could you provide any additional information about the context in which this error occurs?

This happens right after the RF POWER UP DONE ASYNC event which is generated by the rlDeviceRfStart(). Again, I cannot recreate this issue consistently, so any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated to help me determine the root cause of this issue

Dominic,

Please ensure that you are loading the proper firmware onto your device. You can use mmWave Studio to determine which revision of silicon you are using. Based on that information, you can make sure you are loading the correct firmware for both the MSS and BSS.

The revision of the silicon is ES2.0
MSS version is 1.0.0.23
BSS version is 2.0.0.20

Dominic,

Are you using mmWave Studio? It is not clear how you are communicating with the AWR1243 since this device is purely a front end device.

I would recommend using mmWave Studio which you can find here: www.ti.com/.../MMWAVE-STUDIO

This tool will provide a software platform that you can use for development. It will also include the firmware for AWR1243 ES 2.0 devices.

I am using mmWaveLink source code (rl_driver.c/.h, rl_controller.c/.h, rl_driver.c/.h, rl_sensor.c/.h and etc) rather than mmWave Studio to communicate with the AWR1243.

I would suggest using mmWave Studio and see if you get the same error. Additionally, in line with my initial response, bit 31 of ESM Group 2 Errors is a reserved value and therefore I do not have any additional information to provide you. If you find a different error, please create a new thread and we can address that error separately.
