TSW1400EVM: Functions of TSW1400 ARM and Trigger Frame

Part Number: TSW1400EVM

I am working with the radar studio to capture ADC Data using TSW1400EVM from AWR1642Boost .

Can someone please explain what happens after clicking the following commands:

1) Set up TSW1400

2) TSW1400 ARM

3) Trigger Frame

Secondly, when does the Radar Studio starts to gather the data? As in, after pressing which command does the process of transmitting and receiving chirps begin?

Many Thanks

  • Hi Anum
Because the tool entered in the Part Number field is the TSW1400EVM your post was directed to the High Speed Data Converter support group who developed that TSW board. We are not experts on all of the products that use that tool with their evaluation platforms.
In future it would be best to specify AWR1642Boost as the part number you need support on, or the specific IC that is the primary device of interest on the EVM.
I will re-direct this posting to the mmWave Radar Team who support the AWR1642Boost.
    Best regards,

  • Thanks. I was not aware of that.
  • Anum,

I have provided my responses to your questions inline below:

    1) Set up TSW1400 - This command provides initial setup of the TSW1400. This step is needed in addition to loading the firmware through HSDC Pro when that program launches.

    2) TSW1400 ARM - This command prepares the TSW1400 to receive data. If no data is received after a certain amount of time, a timeout will occur.

    3) Trigger Frame - This command is actually sent to the AWR1642BOOST. The first two commands are sent to the TSW1400. This command begins the process of transmitting and receiving of the chirps and the subsequent transfer of the received chirps from the AWR1642BOOST to the TSW1400.

Radar Studio does not actually gather the data. The raw ADC data is captured by the TSW1400 and then copied over to your computer. Radar Studio can then perform simple post processing of this raw data and output it in MATLAB output window.

  • Dear Kyle,

Tjanks a lot for these answers.  They have cleared lot ph my doubts about ths overall process.
