DCA1000EVM: What is "onboard switch" of SW2?

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1243

Hi.

It seems the "SW2 onboard switch" refer to SW2 on AWR1XXX EVM board.

  • Timur,

This is a reset switch. Pressing and releasing SW2 performs a soft reset of the device instead of disconnecting the power cord for a hard reset.

    Kyle
  • Thank you, Kyle.

I just try to clear a thing in the related question

Here there is a refer to DCA1000_Quick_Start_Guide.pptx:

"Note: It is recommended that the xWR EVM is powered up with only SOP0 jumper (P4) placed and then the SOP1 jumper (P2) is placed followed by a toggle of nRST using SW2 onboard switch".

In the following posts SW2 on the DCA board and SW2 on the xWR board were mixed up as I think.

Returning to the Note - ours experience has shown that SPI connectivity doesn't set up if xWR EVM powered up with SOP0 (P4) and SOP1 (P2) jumpers placed. Configuration described in the Note works good.

    Regards,

    Timur

  • Timur,

If you are using the EVM just by itself, then you should not place jumpers on both SOP0 and SOP1. This jumper setup is only required when using the DCA1000 and mmWave EVM and they are connected together.

SW2 on the DCA1000 EVM is a bank of switches used to configure the device for use in mmWave Studio. Please search this forum for similar questions about the recommended switch positions for SW2 on the DCA1000.

    Regards,
    Kyle
  • We are using DCA1000 and AWR1243 EVMs, thank you for clarification.
Switch positions for SW2 on the DCA1000 we have set refering to the DCA guide and this forum as you said. Up to this time we have no trobles with EVMs.

    Regards,
    Timur
