Q - High-Temperature sensing options? (+200C)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XTR108

Hi there -

I'm looking for a relatively low-cost, moderate accuracy circuit that will sense temperatures up to +200C (+400F).  The IC temperature sensors I have found so far seem to be limited to +125C, although I did locate a sensor from another manufacturer that claims to sense to +150C.

What are my options for a sensor circuit that will operate to +200C?  Am I limited to a thermistor-based design, or are there other options?

Thanks;
Randy

  • I recommend looking at RTD’s.  This is the most accurate temperature sensing solution for the temperature range you are looking at.  The XTR108 is a good way of doing signal conditioning on RTD’s.
