AWR1243: Data Format mode for AWR1243

Hi,

We are trying to configure the AWR1243BOOST board using mmwave studio and sending data to TDA2px through DCA1000EVM board. We are trying to capture raw data and run the "Object detection " usecase in the RadarSDK but we are not sure about the data format mode, if it is Interleaved or Non-interleaved. What is the default mode of awr1243? and how can we change that mode (interleaved or non-interleaved).

Hello Varsha,
Incase of 1243 the ADC data sent out is in interleaved mode. ie samples are sent out in the form of RX1-RX2-RX3-RX4 - RX1....

I have few basic queries, seeking for urgent help.

1.What data format Radar SDK can accept (we are suspecting it is accepting only non-interleaved).

2.Whether Radar SDK accepts data as 2s Complement form? Is there any need of converting it (Our understanding - it is not required)

Please correct our understanding.

Radar SDK accepts non-interleaved format.

It accepts 2s Completment. No need to convert.

Thanks a bundle for your quick reply.

As AWR1243 gives interleaved data and RadarSDK accepts non-interleaved data format, Is there any utility as such to convert it?

To get into deep, we have dumped a file(by collecting data from AWR1243 ) and converted into non-interleaved format by writing a C- code, the output we get is not as expected.

I have attached some screenshots. (We are not clear if we are unable to interpret the data correctly).

Hello Varsha,
The AWR1243 device can be programmed to send non interleaved format as well (default being interleaved). In case of radar SDK , the code configures the AWR device to send out in non interleaved format. So there is no conversion required.

Can you give some more details on how to program AWR1243 to send non-interleaved data. I am configuring the device using mmWave studio as my setup is connecting TDA2px to AWR1243 through DCA1000 EVM.

Hello Varsha,
Unfortunately the mmwave studio does not have the API implemented to change the data format to non interleaved.

Typically when you use TDA to capture the data it is also used to configure the device. In that case the API with sub block "AWR_DEV_RX_DATA_FORMAT_CONF_SET_SB" can be issued from the TDA to change the data format. Refer to the Interface Control document (software-dl.ti.com/.../AWR1xx_Radar_Interface_Control.pdf)
