OPT8241: what's the defination of depth resolution?

Part Number: OPT8241

Hi,

what's the defination of depth resolution?

Depth resolution shows up in Estimatior tool and documents----System design User guide .

it is correct that depth resolution depends on what size object I want to detected on image ?

For example ,depth resolution is 200mm in Maxdistance .if the Maxdistance is set as 5m and the distance of object is 5m , The CDK only can detect smaller 200mm object ?

how to usually set depth resolution  on system design ? could u give me more detial explanation ?

Thanks advance !

  • Hi,

Depth resolution is the standard deviation of the measured distance over a large set of frames captured int the system.

The only thing that "Depth Resolution" conveys is the precision of the depth measurement of the 3D ToF system. Typically, your image processing algorithm and your application would decide how much depth resolution is needed.

Please read through the user guide present in your system estimator installation folder to understand how to use the software.
