PGA460-Q1: SPI serial interface

Part Number: PGA460-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA460, ENERGIA

HI, first time on this forum,

I am integrating the PGA460 AFE into my ultrasonic sensor design for collision avoidance on a motorized wheelchair product. I was planning on using the SPI interface capability on the PGA460 but can only find Uart and TCI settings for interface in the programming document supplied by TI. SLASEC8A Rev 08 of 2017

Is there a document that covers this setting that i am missing? I see that Register address 0x1e definition covers setting uart and TCI but not SPI interface.

Thanks,

  • Hi Pete,

The PGA460 Energia Library and Code Examples support SPI mode, and provides details on the SPI implementation and command structure in the PGA460_USSC.cpp file. The PGA460's datasheet's section 7.3.6.2.1.8 USART Synchronous Mode provide the low-level detail examples of the SPI implementaiton. USART Synchronous Mode is identical to SPI without chip select.

The primary difference between the PGA460's UART and SPI is that the UART only uses the TxD and TxD pins for 115.2kBaud, while SPI also leverages the SCLK pin to achieve up to 8MHz clock communication. Otherwise, the transmit and receive packets are identical.
