OPT8241: Can I activate only for specific frames?

Part Number: OPT8241
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPT9221,

If the ToF sensor starts to work, it keeps sending and receiving signals continuously for all the frames.

Can I control this such that the sensor sends and receives signals for the specific frames, and doesn't for other frames?

  • Hi,

You can use the slave mode feature to get frames only when you want. Take a look at the OPT9221 datasheet under section 7.3.3.2 Frame Rate Control and Sub Frames.

  • Thanks for your reply, Nithin.

Just to clarify, if VD_IN is enabled, is only one frame enabled or are all the frames enabled after VD_IN?

I have one more question since I'm new in this field. How can I control VD_IN in slave_mode? Do I need some special circuits for that?

    Thanks.
  • Hi,

OPT8241 + OPT9221 chipset supports both slave mode and sync mode. In slave mode, for each VD_IN pulse you get one frame. Sync mode is used for synchronizing the begging of frames. In sync mode after VD_IN is given, you will get continuous frames with the beginning of frames synchronized to your VD_In pulse. For more information kindly refer to the datasheet of OPT9221 under section 7.3.3.2 Frame Rate Control and Sub Frames.
