AWR1642BOOST: is there user documentation for the SOC driver module appart from the reference info in the drivers/soc/doco directory?

Is there a more "user guide" type documentation. What SOC stands for, what SOC is, how does it work. 

I went through the doxygen doco and it is only a list of functions/structures etc. It seems to be a "reference" type document. Don't even know what the acronym SOC stands for.
