TMP101: Can ALERT pin active for next continuous THIGH?

Part Number: TMP101

Hi Sir,

when exceed THIGH, I adjust THIGH again, can TMP101 active (ALERT pin active) when temperature exceed the adjusted THIGH?

if yes, could you please tell me how to do. I do some experiment but can not success. thank you.

best regards,

  • Hello Langston,

The TMP101 will generate a fault after it reads a temperature above the THIGH value. The number of faults needed to activate the Alert pin will be determined by the F1 and F0 bits in the configuration register. Table 9 in the datasheet shows how these bits are interpreted.

In Comparator mode, the device must read a temperature below TLOW the same number of times to deactivate this pin. If you want to use comparator mode, then you would have to increase TLOW along with THIGH to allow the alert pin to deactivate before it should be reactivating.

If you want to use interrupt mode, then you would either have to reset the device after THIGH triggers the alert, OR perform a read, followed by an increase of TLOW  (which allows the device to re-trigger the alert pin) and THIGH followed by another read to deactivate the alert pin.

Assuming you are not concerned about decreasing temperatures, I recommend trying comparator mode with a low number of faults, and keeping the margin between TLOW and THIGH very close.
