RTOS/AWR1443BOOST: SDK 1.1 vs 1.2 Long Term Support?

Part Number: AWR1443BOOST

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

When using SDK version 1.2 (Long Term support) I was unable to do the capture demo, when I downloaded 1.1 I was able to run the capture demo with no issues on my AWR1443BOOST Board. I was wondering what the difference between 1.1 and 1.2 is that would remove the capture demo ability, or is it under a different name in the 1.2 release?

What is meant by Long Term Support, what does LTS do?

  • Christian,

The capture demo is a now obsolete demo that was included in early versions of the mmWave SDK. With the release of the DCA1000 EVM, TI has made it easier to capture large amounts of raw ADC data that can be used for analysis and developing specific processing chains. The capture demo does not receive active support anymore. However, you can read through this whitepaper to understand the capture demo: www.ti.com/.../swra581.pdf

Please keep in mind that in this lab, you are not actually capture raw ADC data, but merely viewing a copy of the ADC data that is temporarily stored in L3 memory.

You can refer to the release notes for both SDK 1.1 and SDK 1.2 for more detailed information about the differences between these two software releases.

The capture demo was removed after the release of SDK 1.2.

Long Term Support means that our SDK team will support questions from customers regarding SDK 1.2 for a longer period than our standard support period for an SDK release. This terminology primarily applies to corporate customers.

    Regards,
    Kyle
