Hi Team,

in OPT3002 datasheet table 9, please see my highlight item, I think the optical power should be:

LSB*R[11:0]=153.6*89Ah=153.6*2202=338,227.2, not 629,145.6

please help to check. thank you

Hi Kumar,

thank you. I also have one more question about OPT3001 and OPT3002.

I found that the OPT3001 measurement level is 0.01lux to 83k lux, and OPT3002 measurement level is 1.2nW/cmcm to 10mW/cmcm.

what's difference between these measurement level?

Hi Praveen,

one more question is which is better between OPT3001 and OPT3002 in IP camera? I know OPT3001 is human spectrum, but it more expensive. Can OPT3002 use in IP camera? is there any risk in this applicaiton?

Hi Betty,

It depends on how the customer is implementing their system and if they need a light sensor with IR rejection or not. Depending on that they would have to pick the appropriate device. For more specific questions on this, feel free to send an email to us and we can discuss further.

Hi Betty,

OPT3001 has a human eye spectrum while OPT3002 is more wider band (measures energy beyond what human eye sees). Lux is a terminology used for Illuminance (lumens/unit area), which in photometry is used to indicate the intensity as perceived by human eye. So the usage of Lux terminology is applicable for only energy in human eye band. So we use that in OPT3001. But if we measure energy over wider band then watt/unit area is used.

one more question is what's the meaning of conversion time CT? why does it need 100ms or 800ms? in the datasheet show, the conversion time is from start of conversion until the data ready to be read. My understanding is the digital data can be read per 100ms or 800ms, right?

Hi Betty,

Integration time is set to either 100 or 800ms. This is how long the sensor takes data for before reporting the value. The actual time taken for integration may vary and is spec'd in the 6.5 Electrical Characteristics table of the datasheet. See the footnotes of that table for conversion time: "(5) The conversion time, from start of conversion until the data are ready to be read, is the integration time plus 3 ms."
